Today, you will set off to discover Iceland’s most famous route, the Golden Circle. After a buffet breakfast, your first destination after only a short ride is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the best place in Iceland to see the continents of North American and Europe being torn apart.

After your visit to the national park, you will then travel on to visit Geysir. This incredible marvel of nature fires 200-degree Fahrenheit geothermal water up to 100 feet into the air. With it comes the pungent aroma of sulfur. This area is an iconic landmark of Iceland, and an absolute must-see.

Your last stop is the stunning waterfall of Gullfoss. A raging canyon where glacial water tumbles down from two platforms into the depths below. A wonderful last stop on your tour. From here, you will head back to Reykjavík for a special dinner created by your chef.

Day 3
Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
Diamond Beach
Jökulsárlón Boat Tour
Good to Know

Accommodation: Vík

Dilwale scenes at Jökulsárlón

Today, you will head along the South Coast towards the spectacular glacier lagoon of Jökulsárlón. Here, you will see the icebergs that have broken off from Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe. Watching them slowly drift off out to the ocean is a hypnotic experience. Don’t forget to keep a look out for seals, who often lie on the smaller icebergs, basking in the sun.

It is here that Shah Rukh Kahn and Kajol filmed the music video “Gerua” from “Dilwale”, and you will visit more of these key locations tomorrow. You will get the chance to be very close, as you take a boat trip that zips between the icebergs.

Your last stop today will be the Diamond Beach, where the icebergs that float out to the ocean are broken down and scattered across the black sand beach, glittering, and sparkling in the sun. You will stay overnight in Vík, a charming town and the most southerly town in the country. A vegetarian dinner will be enjoyed in the hotel restaurant.

Day 4
Seljalandsfoss & Skógafoss Waterfalls
Shuttle Transfer to the DC-3 Plane Wreck
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
Good to Know

Accommodation: Reykjavík

Today, you will head back to Reykjavík, but there is plenty to see along the way. You will first stop at Reynisfjara, an incredible and dramatic location that shows off the true power of the Atlantic Ocean. The beach itself is lava that has been broken down by the sea’s power into super fine, black sand. This was another key filming location for “Gerua”, thanks to its incredible and unique black sands and basalt columns.

You will head further west, and you can then take a fun bus ride along the black sand beach to the famous DC-3 plane wreck. A US military aircraft crash-landed in the 1970‘s, and it has become something of a landmark on Iceland’s South Coast. “Gerua” was also filmed here, as Kajol stood on top of the plane wreck with her colorful dress flowing behind her, as she was joined by her love, creating an incredibly romantic image.

Before you arrive back in Reykjavík, you will visit the waterfalls of Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss. Skógafoss is a beautiful canyon waterfall, where the birds circle above your head. Not surprisingly, another key filming location for “Gerua.” Also used in the movie was Seljalandsfoss, a unique waterfall where you can enter the cave that goes behind the waterfall. You will then arrive back to Reykjavík, where your chef will prepare a meal for you.

Day 5
Capital Reykjavík
Whale Watching
FlyOver Iceland

Later it is time to visit the giants of the ocean on an exciting whale watching tour, hoping to meet humpback whales, minke whales dolphins, and harbor porpoises.

After your whale watching cruise, it is time to hit the skies. Strap yourself in and enjoy this amazing virtual flight at FlyOver Iceland. An Indian dinner will, once again, be prepared for you.

Today, you will visit the incredible Reykjanes peninsula. A place that has five different volcanic systems, and the site of the latest volcanic eruption in Fagradalsfjall. You will get to see the newest lava that has flowed from the crater further into the valley, which is also the newest land in Iceland, and some of the newest land in the world.

Also in Reykjanes, you can visit the geothermal area of Seltún, where the ground is alive, boiling, popping, and hissing as you take a wooden path over all the natural steam vents. You will also visit the beautiful lake of Kleifarvatn, which is very nearby.

Gunnuhver is another geothermal area, with a supernatural origin, and not far from here is the Bridge Between the Continents. This is a specially constructed bridge where you can walk between the continents of North America and Europe!

Finally, you will visit the world-famous Blue Lagoon and enjoy a relaxing dip in its soothing, restorative waters. Then, it is time to head back to town for a specially prepared dinner.

Day 7

This is a long day, but full of absolutely staggering locations and without doubt, one of the most incredible locations in Iceland. A late dinner awaits you.

Day 8
Capital Reykjavík
Lava Tunnel
Good to Know

Accommodation: Reykjavík

perlan in reykjavik

Today, you will be going underground to learn all about how lava tunnels are created. This incredible cave gives you a glimpse into Iceland’s turbulent volcanic past, as well as helps you understand what is still going on and how many of Iceland’s volcanoes could erupt with very little warning. You will also experience pitch blackness. In this cave, with all the lights off, it is about as dark as dark can get with the total absence of light. Quite a sensory experience.

After this, you will then be taken back to Reykjavík, to the Perlan water tanks. Here, you will visit the Wonders of Iceland exhibit, full of fascinating displays that tell you all about Iceland’s unique geology. You will end the visit with the amazing Aurora show. Enjoy the daily dinner before you end the day in your hotel.

Day 9
Deildartunguhver Hot Spring
Reykholt Village

Into the Glacier

Today, you will visit the Borgarfjörður region, starting with Deildartunguhver, the largest hot spring region in Europe. The twin waterfalls of Hraunfossar and Barnafoss are your next stop. Hraunfossar is very porous, and so the glacial water is oxidized and turned into a vibrant, electric blue.

Then, it is time for some adventure! Langjökull glacier is the second-largest glacier in Europe. Here you will climb aboard a specially modified glacier truck and drive over the glacier to reach the spectacular ice tunnels, and learn all about how glaciers are formed.
